Team India's Quest at the Antalya 2026 Archery World Cup

Team India's Quest at the Antalya 2026 Archery World Cup

The global archery community has its eyes firmly fixed on Turkey this week as the Antalya 2026 Hyundai Archery World Cup Stage 3 heats up. The shores of the Mediterranean are providing a stunning, albeit intense, backdrop for the world's best archers. With temperatures hovering around 23°C and high humidity, athletes are battling the elements just as much as they are battling each other.

But for fans following Team India (IND), this week has been nothing short of a spectacular display of precision, focus, and high-stakes drama as the squad ramps up its preparations for the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games.

Spotlight on Team India (IND)

India’s archery program has been on a meteoric rise, consistently churning out world-class talent, particularly in the compound disciplines. Coming into Stage 3 in Antalya, expectations for the revamped 16-member squad were sky-high.

Navigating the grueling qualification rounds earlier this week, the Indian compound archers showcased their trademark resilience. The women's compound team—led by the formidable Jyothi Surekha Vennam alongside Parneet Kaur and Chikitha Taniparthi—put on a clinic, securing the 2nd seed overall. Meanwhile, the mixed team of Jyothi and Sahil Jadhav locked down the 5th seed.

But it's the men's compound team that has truly captured the spotlight heading into the weekend.

The Battle for Bronze: India vs. Mexico

After a fierce run through the elimination brackets, the Indian Compound Men's Team finds themselves in a heavyweight clash for the Bronze Medal against Team Mexico (MEX).

The Indian trio—consisting of Sahil Jadhav, debutant T Ganesh Mani Ratnam Thirumuru, and Rishabh Yadav—has been nothing short of electric. During qualifications, they collectively shot a massive 2119 (including 99 10s and 76 Xs), earning them the 3rd seed right behind powerhouses Türkiye and Korea. Individually, Sahil Jadhav has been leading the charge, finishing 10th in qualifications with a stellar score of 710, while Yadav followed closely in 22nd with 706.

Their opponents, Mexico, qualified as the 8th seed with a score of 2106. The Mexican squad, featuring Sebastian Garcia Flores, Rodrigo Gonzalez De Alba, and Lot Maximo Mendez Ortiz, brings a notoriously powerful compound pedigree. This matchup is an absolute dream for archery purists.

In team compound matches, where the cumulative score leaves absolutely zero room for error, every single release counts. The synchronization of India's three-man squad, mixing Jadhav's recent international medal-winning experience with Thirumuru's debut hunger, will be put to the ultimate test when the clock ticks down.

What This Means for Indian Archery

Regardless of the final hardware brought home from Antalya, Team India's performance at Stage 3 is a testament to the nation's growing dominance in international archery. They aren't just participating; they are consistently threatening the podium at every major event.

With the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on the horizon and crucial World Cup Final qualification points on the line, one thing is abundantly clear: whenever you see "IND" on the target assignments, you know you are in for a spectacular show.
